Apr 27, 2018Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Winterrowd Funeral Home, Streator. Burial will be in Defenbaugh Cemetery.Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Streator.Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Foxhoven, James Carpenter, Marion Johnson, Gene McMullen, David Hamilton, Rob Gass and Austin Cole. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Berge, Curtis Elliott, Ryan Mueller, Herb and Harold Holz, Tom Kaminki, Butch Jacobs and Chris Cuchra.Gene was born Dec. 13, 1930, in Pontiac, to Elmer and Wilma Hamilton. He married Janice Walters on Jan. 8, 1956. She survives.Also surviving is a son, Jeff (Paula) Hamilton of Streator; granddaughters, Carleigh (Josh) Hamilton-Foxhoven and Whitney (James) Carpenter; and a brother, Dean (Mary) Hamilton of Pontiac.His parents and a son, Richard in infancy; and his stepmother, Pearl Hamilton, preceded him in death.He attended Cornell Grace School and graduated from Cornell High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. Gene had retired from farming, raising cattle and trucking. He was a member of the Streator Elks Lodge 591 and ran the bowling alley for many years at the Elks.
